Have been spending the last couple of weeks showing some newbies on how to build their first computer from scratch. Have been spending a lot of time looking for suppliers of parts and I just found a supplier who is selling 40GB Seagates for $25. No limits on how many drives I can get from him. These are brand new drives pulled from an OEM hardware to be replaced with a larger hard drive. So right now, this third party OEM gets a bunch of 40GB hard drive every time they make a hardware order cause their customers want larger hard drives then the installed 40GB. The hard drives are Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 - specsBought two today and they're working great. Using one to back-up some LAN leech and the other for a system I'm helping a coworker build. They still have the manufacture's label and seal on and I checked to see if they are still under warranty, and they are. I plan to make another purchase next Friday, so if anyone is interested, post away or hit up Mameman. The guy is in SF and so I get to inspect the drives when I pick them up that day. 40GB isn't really big enough for most of us, but for $25 (I spend a little over $35 for a full tank of gas) the drives are cheap enough for small storage use or for messing around with multiple RAID setups.
